Welcome everyone to the blog on the fourth day. We in this blog are going to take you on a journey of the world’s once highest motorable road. Before you go, there’s one important thing to keep in mind. That is – where we are going, the altitude is 17,900 feet.
Almost everyone finds it hard to breathe there. So, you must definitely carry an oxygen cylinder or a small 4-liter oxygen bottle with you. And if you go without an oxygen cylinder, then when you reach Khardungla Pass, you’ll have difficulty breathing. Since you’re new, you’ll definitely experience breathlessness.
Let me talk a bit about acclimatization – if you’re experiencing breathing issues, you should definitely see a doctor. In such high places like Ladakh, you’re likely to experience breathlessness. What should you do there? Here’s what you should do – bring along some red flowers found in Leh city. When you experience breathlessness, hold those flowers close to your nose and take deep breaths forcefully. You’ll see it helps alleviate the problem. If you know breathing exercises for acclimatization, be sure to do them. Practice these exercises at home before trying them out during your trip.
In our first blog about Ladakh, we mentioned that when you come to Ladakh, you should keep at least one day for acclimatization.
When you arrive in Ladakh, acclimatization is necessary. Without it, you may experience headaches, nausea, and cold sweats. What should you do? Rest at your homestay in Leh city, drink plenty of water, eat well, and stay indoors.
If you follow the advice above, you’ll definitely be able to enjoy your trip to Ladakh beautifully.
We had breakfast at the hotel in the morning and checked out. We also checked everything on the bike. Make sure you also check everything on your bike.

Bike Rent
In the third day’s blog, I told you about bike rental. So now let me explain it a bit more. You should thoroughly check everything on the bike Accessories (tires, chain, engine oil, mirrors, windshield, pickup, bike’s torque, etc.).
If you’re traveling alone on the bike, you should rent a 100cc bike. If you’re traveling in a group, you can use bikes ranging from 150cc to 1000cc.
Since it’s quite chilly where we’re going today, along with riding jackets, helmets, gloves, and boots, we’ve dressed warmly and taken an extra outfit with us.
Before checking out of your hotel, make sure to charge your electronic devices.
Speaking of electricity, let me tell you a bit more: In Ladakh, there are frequent electrical problems. The hotel where you stay will inform you about the power schedule, so make sure to charge your devices accordingly.
Also, when you come to Ladakh, bring a power bank and extra camera batteries because the batteries drain quickly due to the weather conditions here.

Khardung La Road
![Hundar-from-Leh-City Hundar-from-Leh-City](https://roaminsouthasia.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Hundar-from-Leh-City.jpg)
Today our destination is Hundar from Leh City via Nubra Valley. It’s about 124 km from Leh City to Hundar. To get to Hundar, you have to take the Khardung La Road from Leh City to Khardung La Top. From there, proceed to North Pullu, then to Khalsar. From Khalsar, head to the district of Nubra Valley, and finally to Hundar.
Roughly a three-hour and 40-minute journey. But it’ll take us more time to get there. We set off for Nubra Valley with the goal of witnessing nature’s beauty along the way.
The distant mountains seem to beckon me with their majesty. On either side of the road, there are mountains of various colors – some dusky, some green, some capped with snow, and others earthy brown. It’s like an extraordinary scene.
Not everyone is fortunate enough to see such a vast world in this short life. Those who cherish travel must surely seize the opportunity to witness this natural beauty. For us, nature lovers, being amidst nature is a source of tranquility like no other.

We rode our bikes for about an hour and 30 minutes to reach Khardung La Top, enjoying nature’s beauty along the way.
When we reached 17,900 feet, the cold was as invigorating as the view. The temperature was around minus 7 degrees Celsius. The scenery there was beyond description. Those who visit Ladakh will understand its beauty. We had tea and Maggi noodles there. After that, we headed back down and started our journey towards the lower side.
North Pullu

We arrived at North Pullu and had lunch in the afternoon. It’s located at 15,300 feet above sea level, but the temperature was around 2 degrees Celsius. The food here was really satisfying. After finishing our meal, we continued on our way.

After a short while, we headed to the Himalayan Ibex Camp where we would spend the night of the fourth day. We rented a tent there, which was comfortable and within our budget. You can stay here if you visit.
I’ll end the blog for the fourth day here. I invite you to read the next blog (fifth day). Thank you for reading this blog.
