Almost all roads in Ladakh are closed in winter. Both the Srinagar-Leh Highway and the Manali-Leh Highway are closed. However, the Zojila Pass on the Srinagar-Leh Highway is closed for only two months. After November, crossing the Zojila Pass becomes very difficult due to black ice. Even if you manage to cross it, you might get stuck anywhere because of snow. Therefore, I recommend flying there. You can fly to Leh from Delhi or Mumbai.

If you are someone who enjoys peace and quiet, you should definitely visit Leh Ladakh in winter. If you want to avoid crowds and see the winter beauty of Ladakh, you should visit during this season.

Woolen Jacket: During these months, Ladakh is very cold and experiences snowfall. The temperature always stays below zero degrees Celsius. Therefore, you must take a heavy woolen jacket and inner thermals with you.

Heavy Pants: Bring heavy pants. If you are a rider, you should also bring woolen pants along with riding pants. They will keep your body warm if you stay in a hotel or homestay.

Monkey Cap: For hats, you must bring a woolen cap and also a monkey cap.

Hand Gloves: Bring good-quality hand gloves. I’ve used Touch Screen Cold Weather Thermal Warm Knit Gloves for running, driving, and hiking. These gloves are very useful and effective.

Socks: Bring woolen socks.

Ladakh will reveal its beauty based on your plans. People don’t travel much Leh Ladakh in winter due to the extreme cold, which can make you feel uncomfortable. If you plan for 5 to 7 days, you won’t be able to see all the sightseeing places. However, if you plan for 10 days, you can visit almost all the places. No matter where you go in Ladakh, you must spend at least one day in Leh city.

If you want to visit Ladakh in 3 days, you will need to stay at a hotel in Leh city on the first night. The next day, explore nearby attractions such as Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, Stok Palace Museum, and Hall of Fame. Stay the night in Leh city. On the third day, visit Khardongla Pass and return to Leh city for the night, then fly back to your destination the next day.

On the third day, visit Khardongla Pass and return to Leh city for the night. The next day, after breakfast, head to Pangong Lake and enjoy its beauty. Spend the night there. On the fifth day, return to Leh Airport after breakfast.

On the first day, allow time for acclimatization and take a short walk around Leh city. Spend the night there. On the second day, after breakfast, visit Shanti Stupa, Leh Market, Thiksey Village, Thiksey Monastery, Shey Palace, Gompa, and Sindhu Ghat.

On the third day, after breakfast, head to Pangong Lake and stay the night there. On the fourth day, travel from Pangong Lake to Nubra Valley and stay in Hunder that night.

On the fifth day, visit Hunder and the sand dunes, see the famous camels, and then return to Leh city for the night. On the sixth day, after breakfast, visit Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, the confluence of the Zanskar and Indus Rivers, and Alchi Monastery. Spend the night in Leh city. On the seventh day, depart for your destination.

On the first day, allow time for acclimatization and take a short walk around Leh City. On the second day, visit Magnetic Hill and Sangam Point, and give yourself more time to adjust to the cold.

On the third day, check out from the Leh hotel and head towards Nubra Valley, crossing Khardung La. Upon reaching Nubra Valley, rent a hotel or tent, store your belongings, and visit Hunder sand dunes, known as the cold desert.

On the fourth day, visit Turtuk Village to experience its culture, food, and beauty. Spend the night in Nubra Valley.

On the fifth day, check out from Nubra and travel to Pangong. Rent a hotel, rest, and enjoy the beauty of Pangong Lake.
