Ladakh-culture

In the deep recesses of my mind, I have a desire to visit ‘the Ladakh of dreams’. On March 17, 2024, we embarked on a journey to Ladakh. We flew from Kolkata to Delhi and then from Delhi to Leh city. For those planning a Ladakh trip, start from Delhi and proceed to Leh. If you wish to experience Ladakh in your own way, you can come by bike. If you prefer not to travel by bike, you can book various tour packages to explore.

For those who prefer traveling by bike and have a bike license, you can rent a bike from Leh city and travel to Ladakh. Those interested in Ladakh must bring a postpaid SIM or purchase a local SIM there.

Let me tell you a little more, those with heart problems should avoid high-altitude places in Ladakh because breathing is difficult due to the thin air. It’s tough even for regular people to breathe in high-altitude areas, so those with breathing problems should avoid them.

Stay at:

Hotel Merigold. We stayed at Hotel Merigold. Those concerned about staying in Ladakh need not worry because you can easily stay at Hotel Merigold. They offer various types of rooms and excellent food. You can book this hotel online.

We arrived directly at the hotel from Leh airport in the morning and checked in. After checking in, we had breakfast and took a few hours to rest and acclimate ourselves to the surroundings and walked around a bit. You should definitely do this too.

The next morning, after having breakfast, we set out to explore Leh city. There’s a lot to see in Leh city. In the morning, we wandered around the vibrant and picturesque environment of Mall Road. The temperature there was 7°C.

Is beautifully constructed. We strolled around Mall Road and saw some amazing places. In the middle of Mall Road, there are sitting places, and this Mall Road is the heart of the city. Here are some amazing shops, restaurants, government offices, houses, beautifully decorated walls. It felt like we were in a picture-perfect village. After visiting Mall Road, we went on a journey to the Place of Peaceful Protest.

Shanti Stupa:

Then we went to the Peace Stupa/Pise Pagoda, four kilometers away from Leh city. If you want to visit Shanti Stupa, try to come early in the morning because the gate of Shanti Stupa closes at eight o’clock at night. The entry fee to Shanti Stupa is 30 rupees per person, and drones are prohibited here.

After seeing Shanti Stupa, we went to Shey Palace. For Shey Palace, we had to walk uphill a bit. Shey Palace is popular among people due to its architecture. The paintings of Shey Palace fascinated us.

The main attraction of the palace is the 12-meter-high copper statue of Lord Buddha inside the monastery.

We came back from Shey Palace and saw the Puchka shop. Surprisingly, it is the only place in Leh city where you can find Puchka.

Rancho's School:
